GeminiPort

GeminiPort is a research and development project aimed at becoming a significant evolution in the management of maritime ports. The project seeks to introduce a new operational paradigm based on the creation of a digital twin of the port, integrated with an advanced Port Community System (PCS) platform delivered as-a-Service.
The goal of GeminiPort is to create a technological ecosystem capable of virtualizing and digitally replicating port infrastructures, assets, and processes, enabling a dynamic representation of port activities. Through this platform, operators will be able to access innovative services for logistics, security, operational monitoring, and flow optimization, improving overall efficiency and decision-making capacity.
The proposed solution is based on a cloud-edge HW/SW architecture designed to integrate heterogeneous data from the field and existing information systems. The infrastructure leverages the latest Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for data acquisition, Artificial Intelligence (AI) for predictive analysis and decision support, and Blockchain to ensure traceability, security, and reliability of information shared among the port community stakeholders.
Thanks to GeminiPort, ports will be able to experiment with new digital management models, simulate complex operational scenarios, anticipate critical issues, and optimize resource use. The digital twin thus becomes a strategic tool not only for monitoring but also for planning, governance, and sustainable development of port infrastructures, promoting interoperability between systems and collaboration among all involved stakeholders.
