<\/strong>refers to the process of adopting and integrating digital technologies into the activities, processes and business models of <strong>small and medium-sized enterprises <\/strong>(<strong>SMEs<\/strong>).<\/p><p>It is a transformation that requires skills, investment, innovation and digital culture, but also offers numerous benefits in terms of efficiency, competitiveness, growth and sustainability.<\/p><p>SMEs represent the productive fabric of our country, with over <strong>4 million active enterprises<\/strong>, employing 34% of workers and generating 41% of total turnover. However, Italian SMEs still lag behind their European and international competitors in digitisation, with a score of 43.6 against 52.6 on the <a href=\"https:\/\/digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu\/en\/policies\/desi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>DESI<\/strong><\/a> (<strong>Digital Economy and Society Index<\/strong>), which measures a country&#8217;s level of digitisation.<\/p><p>To bridge this gap, Italian SMEs can and must seize the opportunities offered by <strong>digital transformation<\/strong>, i.e. the organisational and strategic change that exploits the potential of digital technologies to create new ways of working, communicating, interacting and creating
